The NORCAL AR Series was created in response to the growing demand from Bay Area athletes looking for more, high quality events
to participate. Our goal is to make each event fun, challenging and minimize
the typical "AR hassles" - like providing a support crew.

For 2009 we’ve got 10 events at 5 different venues. Event options range
from 4hr Sprint courses for beginners to 9-10hr events and a full-blown
24-36 hour finale event for more experienced teams.

2 different challenge courses to choose from:

- A fast, but tough 5+/- hrcourse for those looking for a good challenge in a beautiful - yet steep, hot - location. Course is designed for iintermediate racers with good navigation skills. UTM plotting will be involved and GPS permitted.

- A difficult, 10+hr course for more experienced participants that want a longer distance, higher degree of difficulty, and a true endurance test. UTM plotting will be involved and GPS permitted.

T-shirts or other cool goodies for all participants. Awards for all who complete the adventure challenges.

The Pacheco, Quicksilver, and Coe events have been progressively more difficult and should have prepared you for a more advanced challenge... therefore, we added this additional race before the end of season finale at Whiskeytown.

The race format will be old-school adventure racing. You get CPs, plot them, and off you go. Get the CPs in order. We'll add in a few time bonus CPs that are more difficult, but will reduce your final finishing time accordingly. On and off-trail CPs. Bushwhacking will be involved if you want to take short cuts.

hour course in the Whiskeytown NRA that will satisfy definitely challenge even the most experienced athletes. Rogaine-orienteering style, there will be many navigation and route choices. Steep hills and off trail travel throughout the course.
