NORCAL AR SERIES SELECTS MYTOPO.COM TO PROVIDE TEAM MAPS
Billings, MT / San Carlos, CA -- The new NORCAL Adventure Race Series (www.norcal-ar.com), directed by Rich Brazeau, today announced it has chosen MyTopo.com to provide the event maps for the series. "We are pleased that our good friend Rich Brazeau has chosen to use our maps in what is sure to be one of the most talked about and respected series competitions in the western United States," said MyTopo President Kevin Toohill. "For a world-class athlete and adventure event veteran to rely on us to provide the maps for this new series is indeed a compliment to our company."
MyTopo pioneered a system to allow people to build and order 'custom' topographic maps online. This seaming technology linked to a print-on-demand system, allows customer to order a topographic map (and now aerial photo or hybrid TopoPhoto map) centered any place, choose the scale and grid overlay, personalize with name and title, and order the map to be printed and shipped within 24 hours. The company specializes in printing waterproof maps, although a variety of paper types and sizes are available.
"In the NORCAL series, MyTopo maps will be relied upon by athletes as they run, trek, mountain bike, navigate, climb, and paddle thoughout the scenic and often unpredicatable Northern California terrain, said series director Rich Brazeau.
In 2006, Brazeau oversaw Primal Quest Utah which also used MyTopo maps. In that event, Mytopo was able to get the entire course on a set of 7 maps, versus the more than 30 would have been required had the athletes had to carry USGS 7.5 minute quad map sheets. "Because one map can cover portions of up to 16 quads, we can cover large geographic areas in many fewer maps, saving critical pack space and eliminating frustrations of managing multiple maps," said Toohill.
