Our Team
The NORCAL AR & Trail Running Series was originally created to meet the demand for more creative, challenging, and professionally organized AR events throughout Northern California. In 2012, we added Trail Running events to our repertoire!
Leadership
The NORCAL AR & Trail Running Series is headed up by Rich Brazeau and a collection of experienced adventure athletes and trail runners. For more than 14 years, Rich and the NORCAL staff have competed in, organized, and provided support for events in Northern California, North America and worldwide.
Our team loves the sport of adventure racing and we regularly log countless miles running and biking on Bay Area trails! Besides organizing events, we’re avid adventure athletes and have competed in events all around the world, including:

Event Management Experience
Rich Brazeau
In the past 9 years, Rich has successfully organized events of all sizes. Besides NORCAL AR, he created the grass-roots Sierra Extreme and founded the Explore California Racing Series. From 2005-2006, Rich was the CEO of Primal Quest – overseeing all aspects of the world’s largest expedition race, Primal Quest Utah. When not participating in (or organizing) events, Rich enjoys his work in the tech sector and teaching new dogs old tricks.
Robert Rhodes
Robert has joined our group as co-race director for our trail running events. After working years in the dotcom industry, Rob discovered a passion for running and exploring the outdoors. He started running trails in the Marin Headlands and in the redwood forests just south of San Francisco. Soon what started out as his daily meditation turned into a whole new endeavor. Rob created Baytrailrunners.com to share his enthusiasm for exercise and the sport of trail running. When Rob’s not running around, you will often find him sampling gourmet coffees or geeking out on his computer.
